I'm sure you have seen many posts like this. Authors post on their walls on facebook about leaving a review. A review is important to the author. It helps readers decide whether they should invest in your book or not. If you got the book free, its the least you can do. But so many readers don't even bother or don;t know how. Some reviews are from trolls. These are people who never read your books but leave you a negative review. I have gotten one review where the reader didn't finish reader my book. Somehow she found it offensive when she read about soaking worship. She reminded me Jesus's disciples (I'm not talking about the twelve) In the book of John, many people followed him because they wanted to learn from him. (The word disciple means Learned or Learned one), but Jesus spoke of his body as being bread and wine, it offended them. "What does he mean by eating his flesh and drinking his blood?" Jesus didn't apologize for he spoke the truth. They minds were carnal. Jesus turned to the twelve who soon become apostles, "Do you want to leave too?" Peter responded by saying, "Where can we go? You have the words of eternal life." They stayed with him!
How I wish I had readers who would stay with me. All my recent reviews on book one were one stars reviews. One quit reader after page four because she didn't understand the concept of soaking worship. These reviewers were like the disciples who thought Jesus taught some strange things. The reviewer thought the same thing. One of them she wasted her time on the book. I bet the Jews thought the same thing. "Why are we following him for?" But I have my faithful few just like Jesus does. And if you are one of the readers who enjoys my book, leave a review. Here is how you can do it:
(Amazon or other book retailers)
1. Go where you purchase or downloaded my ebook or paperback. If you put my book title and author name in the search box, it will take you to my book page. Go down where it says "Write a review" and follow the prompts there
If you are on Goodreads and you are using a kindle, it should mark you as currently reading. Update it whenever you can and when finished, it will ask you to leave a comment and further down leave a review.
These reviews are important to me. We spend way lot more on paying for a professional polished book than you do for one ebook or paperback. We only get a small percentage of royalty depending on the price of the book.
These reviews encourage authors to continue writing. Leaving a fake review or a one star reviews stabs us in the back and you can's just say , "I don't like." I usually tell the author why I gave it that many stars. But if you read a book and don't finish then don;t leave a review (Unless of course you promise to review)
My series is not your run of the mill Christian story. I have read books where I know the character has faith or go to church but their faith is more like saving faith. The author might mention God a few times, but they don't write faith based stories. I am not going to apologize for the stories God have given me. But if it makes the readers happy, I will try not to not make my books too spiritual for you. My MCs in the one I am rewriting has a friend who is a Christian and my book has a hero who isn't. You can say its even balance. He will use certain words but not often and it will not have Gods name attach to it. She also has a half sister who is a Christian and she plays an important role because Marge walked away from God and she is trying to find her way back to him and give him her hurts.
