"Do not say why were the former days better than these? For you don't inquire wisely concerning this." Eccles 7:19 NKJV
I don't know about you, but it seems we should know why. My question is do you long for the old days? Do you wish everything would turn back to the way it was? We shouldn't. We don't even know if tomorrow would be worst than today. Many of us have found ourselves wishing this since the pandemic it. Some of us accepted it as the new norm. A preacher even embraced it as a new norm. Let's go back to the days of spiritual patriarch. God had a plan to multiply his people, but he had to keep them in one place. However, a new pharaoh arose and he cared nothing about God and his people. He turned them into slaves and inundated the Hebrews with worship of Egyptian gods. For 400 years or so! It would have been no wonder that they have forgotten about God for it seems He has forgotten about them, He didn't.
But soon after the judgement and miracles in Egypt and after they went through the red sea, God tested them. They could have gone through the wilderness in a short time instead of 40 years, but they complained. It prolonged their journey. What was their complaint? They more or less longed for the former days where they were slaves. God gave them bread and water and later, but the rabble (those who went with them to stir things up and get discouraged.) convinced them that the food in Egypt was much better and they agreed. (We should never agree with the enemy.) God had a wonderful plan for them, but they thought about their flesh. They craved for the food of Egypt. In spite of the way the Egyptians treated them, they wanted to go back.
Many of us today, find ourselves in the same situation. The harsh season has caused some of us to crave for the days of old, but they have forgotten about all the corruption that had happened over the years. If we just accept this so called new administration, we are embracing socialism. Egypt of old embraced socialism too and God's people wanted to go back to that. God has a plan of us, but some people have either given up on God (like the people of Israel had) or expected God to come through on their terms and not His. He still has a plan for us. The good news is it won't take 400 plus years to free us from socialism. God will accelerate it for our sake. God cares for us Americans just as he cared for His people in Israel. It may not seem like it because people still listen to mainstream media as the gospel truth or they look at their circumstances and think that God had forgotten us. And don't blame the prophets. They represent God. They don't speak on their terms. They speak God's words to us. Just as Moses said and did what God instructed Moses to do and say.
I want to encourage you, that it will get better. Have and keep the faith. Jesus asked, "When I return, will I find faith on earth?" There are Christians who just wants to go home. They had enough of the corruption. Egypt was full of corruption. It's so funny because the people complained, "Was there because there are no graves in Egypt that you sent us out here to die?" Were they thinking that death was better than what they were going through? We know that life with Jesus in heaven is so much better than on earth, but it is needful for us to continue to serve God on earth until his bride is pure and spotless. And we are not. There are still strife and division. Some denominations have departed from the Word or God, or compromised it. A sifting needs to be done.
Did you watch Trump's farewell speech? It really wasn't a goodbye. He had given a hint. He wasn't telling us that Biden's administration would be glorious. he was saying, to wait for something even better than the ones we had. I know some of us never liked him or the way he talked, but he became a Christian before he presided over the united states. He advocated for us Christians and for the children and unborn. He was not full of corruption has the deep stated led administration is.
We should all know why the former days are not better. Instead of asking why, why not ask, how can we make the best of each day. Worrying about tomorrow has enough problems as it is. Trusting God is the way to go.
