"I prayed to God, and He answered me. He freed me from all my fears." Psalms 34:4 NLT Psalms 34 is rich with God's promises and deliverance. He wants to deliver us and protect us. He sends his angels to guard us that we don't even need to fear, but often times we take our eyes off him and onto her surroundings as what Peter did. When he saw the waves, he feared he would drown. He called out to God and just as the scripture said, God delivered him. Sometimes God won't deliver us when we want him and sometimes, we inadvertently give the enemy foothold into our lives. "After church, Julie surmised she would be safe as they arrived at the house. Eric was with her, and he would protect her, as God would do the same. The ranch seemed to have eyes that bored into her soul. Even Eric looked uncomfortable. He glanced around as he wrapped an arm around her waist. He didn’t waste time retrieving his keys. He unlocked the door and hurried her inside. While he checked to make sure everything was intact, Julie scurried up the stairs. Eric was still downstairs. No one was behind or in front of her. Why did she think Drew was waiting for her? God, forgive me for fearing. She let her breath escape as she entered her room. She removed a pair of pants and pulled them up under the dress then she removed her dress... “Nothing is amiss.” Eric startled her. “Sorry.” “Ever since we left the church, I couldn’t help but sense someone watching us, following us.” Early in my book, they discovered Beth's impostor took the key and they got into fear. They didn't feel safe. Julie thought, "God forgive me for fearing", but she didn't ask him to deliver her. of course, it doesn't hurt to play it safe, but when F(alse) E(xpectations) A(ppears) R(eal) plays a role, the devil comes in like a thief and played on their fear. Her fear? That Drew would rape her. Even if we allow fear in our lives, God will still deliver us as the scripture states. I invite you to meditate on Psalms 34. Notice that it says the angels encamps around those who fear God? It didn't say around those who fear man. The fear of God is not the same as the fear of man. God wants our reverence and our worship. God frees us from the fears that brings torments. One of my favorite new testament scriptures states, "God's perfected love cast all fear." I am all for that! Let His love cast out your fears and wash it away.
