"Death and Life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat it's fruit."
Imagine if you will, someone needing your expertise. All it takes is the word of the mouth. But what if the person who has the power to hurt your business or to help it, doesn't speak good about your service? The same could be true of an author. A book review could either hurt or help an author because people uses reviews to determine whether they will purchase the book or not. When a reader says I will not recommend this book because of unrealistic storyline or whatever negative they could find, they are not speaking good about your book? Even in a business when you need people to buy your product or use your services, the words consumers use could hurt us. "Don't hire such and such business because they do a bad job." What they are doing is using their words to curse us.
But when you speak well of someone or a business, you are helping them to succeed and maybe gain new customers, or in my case, readers. The scripture says that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Life and death is blessing and cursing. Deuteronomy 30:15 says, "See, I have set before you today, life and good, death and evil." In the new testament to bless means to speak good of others and to curse means to speak evil of others.
You can not do both of the same person because James wrote, "Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My Brethren, these things ought not to be so." James 3:10. This comes from the same chapter about how evil our tongue can be. So chose wisely what you will say about someone. Someday it will bite you in the bud or blessings will return on you.
