Hey, Y'all (you all) how would you like something out of ordinary on my website? Since I am a cowgirl at heart and I wrote a book set on the ranch, I would like a start a "All Things Cowboy" blog, If I can get permissions from bloggers who posts recipes of their own, I will be posting recipes from their website that mentions cowboys or something they would eat.  I may even featured authors of western romance on my blog if I can get them they say yes. I know a few I can ask  and I will keep you posted,
Let me know your thoughts or if you have ideas or suggestions.

Yaphe Update

2/3/2021

While my manuscript hasn't reach the desk of my editor, I have decided to wait until I get reviews on my book. After I published Baby Blues, I received  only two reviews and they came from Canada. Who wants to read a book with no reviews on it? So even after the final draft, it may be awhile before you see my new book on the shelf. If you are interested in becoming a beta reader, click this link to find out more www.ramblingsofmissmadison.com/2021/01/update-on-yaphe.html. If you are a reader of fantasy, and you would like to be the first to review, comment with your email. I don't giveaway copies for nothing though and you have to at least spend $50 at Amazon.

Looking for Beta Readers

I have a new book coming out that is unlike any book I have ever written. I normally write romance or something with suspense, but the idea came to me when I was laying in bed one day. I tend to let my mind wonder when I can't sleep. Like most of my early work, they out start very rough, but it is taken me this long to hone on it.  If you go to Writings of Ruthie Madison, you will find out about my book. It is my very first fantasy, but without reader's input, I may risk criticism from those who read fantasy. In three weeks, my manuscript goes to my editor.

I am also looking for street team members on Facebook and may look into creating one on MeWe. I started out with three active members, but it has dwindled down to almost nothing. I understand why a  couple a couple of them can't, but the others? I need active members.

It's hard to get my feet off the ground with little support, but I hope you would consider. If you want to join my street team, send me an email.  Also on  the about page, subscribe to my mailing list and you will get a free nobi copy of A Second Chance at Love. If you have that, I can give you a paperback of the same book, but I would need proof of order.

Trusting the Lord

11/5/2020

A couple years ago,  I owned my first domain without the subdomain. I bought it with a  plan from Weebly. I  could afford it, but when my finances tightened up, I did not renew my plan, but kept my domain. Did Weebly tell me I have an issue I need to resolve? No. They allowed me to use my domain with the free plan--the big deception. Why couldn't I use my domain? I paid for it. That's like asking to keep your driving license even if you don't have a car. Oh, I can keep my domain all right--I just can't use it.

Weebly had decided that since I changed my dns records, I no longer could use my domain on their site. They had reduced me to a subdomain and put me of the professional ladder, but maybe this was part of God's plans. After all, my readership hadn't increased, my book sales remain the same and my design business seemed to have stopped. I'm still a nobody in a world of readers. Maybe it was not time to have a domain.

This where I am trusting the Lord.
I had thought about just going ahead and pay the $60 so I can still use my domain, but the lack of visitors and readers doesn't encourage me to do so. I need to make my presence known and to let readers know there is another best selling author on her way, but it will take time. I can't do this in my own strength. I need God to come through for me and He will, but this is not the time to make my domain live. Only in His time will it happen. I have to be honest. It doesn't feel good. I still have an email you can write me to unless of course that is invalid because I can't use my domain.

At any rate, I'm trusting him to grant me justice or favor. Why should I have to pay to connect to a domain I already own? Just because I changed my records? A decision I wish I never made, but God is merciful. One way or other, the time will come when I can post my website without the subdomain.

Well, here it is the month of November. Many authors are busy getting their word count in for NANOWRIMO. I was one of them years ago until I realized that every novel never got published. I really can't focus for a novel. My goals are novellas or short stories, neither are 50k words or more. Instead I am getting ready for Baby Blues.

If you have subscribed to my newsletter, you should get an update from me. If not, you can still subscribe. Click this link From the Desk of Ruthie Madison  and on the bottom, is a form for you to fill out.

Have you read The Past Hunter: Two Men: her past and present? If not, why not? Here is what one reader sai
d about The Past Hunter: "I have to say, though I enjoyed the original story the 2nd edition is even better. I liked the subtle hint of romance in it. It's not mushy like most romance stories. I recommend this to those who enjoy a sweet romance story."--Michelle Funke. If you would like to download a copy now,  click the picture for the link and it will take you to Amazon.
Also, I wouldn't mind if you vote for my cover at Allauthors.com  It needs your love. allauthor.com/cover-of-the-month/10069/

By the time you finish reading the above book, you won't have too much of a wait for Baby Blues.

I don't normally do this, but my book needed exposure. Ever since the re-release day, it has gained very few reviews. And why is that? It is a novella and it would not take too long to read, but people prefer well known authors.
Recently, I attended a course on getting out of the poverty mind set. One thing I learn is that people who think they are entitled to free things have that mind set. In my past, even authors told me that you won't have a high quality book if you expect free service. So I invested. I found an editor I like and she has helped me polish my books. The problem is, many are not giving me a chance! There are no downloads. How many times I have supported authors by purchasing their books? This is why I no longer will read and review my fellow author books unless I really like their books.  I feel as if I am on my own. Sometimes it's hard to get all my street team to share things. There are only about one or two who does, but  I will be patient.
I also invested in paid advertising. Since the lockdown, the pandemic, the president has put money into my UI benefits which has helped a lot. I thought Amazon advertising would work. Well, as of today, 61 impressions, but what does that mean to me? I spent $1 and no sales. Doesn't sound like its working. I also invested in KDP Rocket.
One last thing I did to gain exposure was enter my cover for the cover of the month. This is where you come in. My cover right now is below the top 100. It needs a big push to make it to the next round. Click on the image and it will take you to the voting page. After you vote for my cover, please share this blog. Thank you.

The Relucted Gal

One of my work in progress is called Baby Blues. It is book two to my Second Chance Series. I just got it back from my editor a couple of days and came across a comment she had made on the word "relucted." I had used describing Eric's unwillingness for her to work. The other forms of the word are reluctance (N) and reluctant (Adj) Even reluctantly is an adverb, but I wanted to stay away from "ly" words as much as possible. Her comment was "I'm not sure I would use that word." Well, I relucted to change. You see as much as I thought reluctance could have a verb like the word  adverse, aversion, or adversely, why couldn't reluctance come in verb form? It actually means to show reluctance https://www.wordhippo.com/what-is/another-word-for/relucted.html.  So how about I write Eric already showed reluctance? I would just have to add another word. and also "ance" I'm very reluctant to do so, but according to my friends on Facebook they all say it is not a word. I even looked it up in my dictionary and it agrees with them. You are my readers and if you came across that word in my story, and you go "huh"?, I better change it.
In a comment below, name a word that doesn't have a verb form and just fun turn it into a verb. I bet you can come up with one. Give it a try!

Happy day after Thanksgiving!
I have a lot of gratitude! In spite of being sick with mild pneumonia, God had shown his goodness to me! In the month of August I got my job back as a sub only for Lemoore Schools. I am more needed there and I am blessing to the teachers and the staff. However, as my job began, my cover sales as decreased. I no longer make premades, but I will customize covers. All my premades are discounted.

I have been working on my manuscripts and wrote a new story which I plan to publish late next year or later. For now, I have three stories I want to republished and I had found editor who has helped me improve on my writing. Expect a December release of the Past Hunter and a late winter release of a Second Chance at Love.

I am looking for arc readers. I have street team on Facebook you can join, if you are interested, but you must agree not to use my group to get a freebie without leaving a review or telling others. All street team members who are not authors gets first invites to launch parties.

Please fill out the contact form if interested.

Thank you.
